I’ve come across the new event of Bloggers Unite initiative that aims to use the power of the blogs to make the world a better place and increasing the awareness about fundamental issues on earth. I wasn’t able to join previous events and I learned this one on the last day. This event’s focus is Human Rights. Bloggers all around the world will be writing about Human Rights on May 15th.
It’s such a vast topic. Even right at this moment, hundreds and thousands of violations of the very basic human rights occur as we repeat our daily routine.
Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.
-Article 3 of the (UDHR) -
Just some quick free associations; Iraq (twice; one for G. Bush, other for G. W. Bush), Bosnia, Palestine, Tibet, Vietnam, North Korea, Lebanon…
No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
-Article 5 of the (UDHR) -
What about Guantanamo Bay detention camp ? And those horrible, unacceptable, shameful photos from Abu Gharip?
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.
-Article 9 of the (UDHR) -
See above and also this one…
This horror and terror is someone else’s daily life out there… And the links on this post are not even close to show the real amount of the abuses of Human Rights.
Today is a day of awareness for Human Rights on the blogosphere. Just being aware of it is a good start itself, since violation of human rights has both a global face ( see above examples) and a local face which occurs everyday in our neighbourhood. Maybe there is something you can do in your power to help one of your acquaintances.

In some countries you have to spell out what human rights are and why they should not be violated. Nice blog.

@Kelleigh: This is the least we could do. Isn’t ignoring the injustice also one part of the crime.
@aka_lol: You’re right, the term itself is violated frequently according to ideology and political convenience in today’s world.
Thank you for taking time to stop by and sharing your thoughts.

You highlighted on a lot of important rights that are still very often violated. Great post, and great blog too.

@May: Since the topic is endlessly broad, I decided to write what comes to my mind when I read the articles of UDHR; a deep contrast between what it is now and what it should be, in theory. I’m glad that you liked it.
